The Burning Bridge; Protagonist

The Protagonist in The Burning Bridge is Will. He is a part of the ranger corps, he is the most brave apprentice because he was the one who killed one of the three wargals when Morgarath was trying to take over Araluen again, He had saved halt; his master. Will was the one who had crossed the tunnel to where the Skandians were to see they're battle plan, and no one else would dare to, even his own master. Will is also very smart as he was the one who decided they should burn the bridge, When he came back from the tunnel this was what he said "They have more Skandians coming up the cliffs on the south coast-to join with the Wargals we've already seen. They'll cross the fissure here, where we are, and move north to attack the barons in the rear, while they wait for Morgarath to try to break out of Three Step Pass. I also heard them saying something about Horth and his men marching around Thorntree Forest. That's up here to the north plains of Uthal." Evanlyn grasped the point immediately."Which would bring the Skandians northwest of the King's army. They'd be trapped between the Wargals and Skandians who have crossed the bridge and the other force from the north." Will and Evanlyn exchanged a glance. He could see they'd come at the same conclusion. They both spoke at the same time."Burn the bridge," they said. Will is also a very joyful person to have around you because he can always make you laugh and he can always be serious, he has a good mixture of personalities.

It doesn't say how Wills physical appearance looks but in the 1st book it says how handsome Will is and he has dark brown-ish hair and light skin, he is 12-13 years old and he is very tall for his age.

Journey Book Project

"So you're taking dispatches to King Swyddned of the celts," he said. "I assume you're invoking the mutual defense treaty that Duncan signed with him some years ago?" Gilan nodded, sipping appreciatively at the fragrant coffee. "The King feels we're going to need all the troops we can muster." pg #- 13

This passage means that there is a big war coming up and Gilan needs to make his way to Celtica and find all the troops he can get, this is very important because if Gilan doesn't get the troops for the war against Morgarath his kingdom (Araluen) will fall into the hands of an evil man. Morgarath's army is as powerful as it can get and they have thousands of wargals and 500 troops of Skandians. The only way to survive now is for Gilan to get more troops. The kingdom of Araluen is counting on him, it's they're only chance of survival.
